Richard Duff, former Sales & Marketing director of Ardington
Fine Art ltd brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of art
publishing and the UK limited edition fine art print market.
"I am really looking forward to the challenge of building
on the tremendous work that Craig has done in bringing i4p to where
it is today. I believe the UK gallery market needs the smaller independent
publisher, where the artwork can be different and there is freedom
for artists to do their best work without the pressure to conform
to an established formula. I4p will continue to supply high quality
limited edition contemporary fine art prints on a more exclusive
basis," said Richard.
Craig Whitney has spent the last year working hard to establish
images4publishing as a professional, friendly and more exclusive
fine art publisher. At the same time he has seen an increase in
demands for his time in the development of the commercial digital
colour and fine art printing for sister company Gemini Digital Colour
Ltd.
"Our success with images4publising has meant that additional
resources were required in the group, I will now be able to concentrate
on developing and marketing the Gemini Digital Colour ltd capabilities
for fine art reproduction and giclee printing to the fine art market
as well as expanding our offering of short run digital colour print
to our commercial clients," said Craig.
Feb 2004 - Spring Fair 2004
Fine Art Trade Guild member Images4publishing ltd (i4p) are very
excited to announce the launch of their new portfolio at the Spring
Fair 2004. Having eschewed the mass-market approach in favour of
promoting a more elite range of artists and images, i4p will now
only offer exclusive signed, numbered Giclee editions (of 295) in
their new catalogue.
Craig Whitney, head of new business explains
"Following a review of the business, using outside consultancy
help, we decided to specialise. We wanted to identify our images
and indeed our artists with the highest quality work, so we naturally
settled on Giclee for the production method. By securing the exclusive
worldwide rights to reproduce our newly selected images as limited
editions, we are able to sell genuine exclusivity alongside quality.
I4p believe Giclee offers the buyer an affordable route to owning
the next best thing to an original work of art, in terms of both
accuracy and longevity"
The new portfolio of images unique to i4p will contain new work
from well-known names such as Stan Rosenthal, Alan Furneaux and
Jane Carpanini RWS, as well as emerging artists with strong regional
reputations such as Sylvia Paul, Andrew Evans and Peter Cronin.
The editions will naturally be signed and numbered by the artists,
but will also be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed
by the artist and (naturally) conform to Fine Art Trade Guild standards.
These precautions should serve to deter forgers (as will a security
embossing and hidden batch number) and are intended to enhance the
exclusivity and also to protect the edition from unscrupulous reproduction.
I4p expect to review and update their portfolio quarterly, releasing
a constant stream of new editions to refresh their range as editions
sell-out and reflecting current trends. To that end they have appointed
an independent review board to oversee selection of the images and
ensure a broad church of views are considered when deciding which
are appropriate.
In addition to the limited editions, i4p will be offering original
artworks for sale by the same artists represented in the portfolio,
though as demand for these is likely to be high, the range will
be ever changing, reflecting expected demand.
