After studying Fine Art at Newport College of Art and completing a postgraduate art teachers degree at Cardiff University I have spent over twenty years as a professional artist and teacher.

I now paint full-time from my studio in South Wales. The series of recent paintings ‘Blue Valley Red’ is a consequence of several years of evolving work inspired by my intimate knowledge of my immediate environment. The paintings are a personal response to the cultural heritage and ever changing moods of the Welsh landscape.

The diversity of the environment, from deep valleys with small industrial communities, to wild rugged hills and majestic mountains that dominate intimate valleys below, are a constant source of inspiration.

I paint in an expressionistic manner, using bold expressive strokes, where paint can sometimes become tactile. The colour can be vivid and evocative in its intensity, creating a personal relationship between the painting and the viewer. These personal and unique paintings are in many private collections and recently, in corporate collections.
